GALKA’O, March, 01, 2010,(SOMINA) - At least 4 people have been killed and more than others have been wounded in south of Galka’o town in Mudug region after two clan militias’ dispute for the ownership of land in south of the town, witnesses told reporters on Monday.
Reports say that both clan militias were the member of the residents in the town and exchanged gunfire in south of Galka’o town which is partially controlled by the administration of the semi-autonomous region of Puntland killing 4, most of them civilians.
Residents at Garsorka neighbourhood and most of the people in the area where the two militias fought had expressed concern about the new violence between the two sides as each group were arguing ownership of the land in the town.
More officials from the administration of Galmudug state and Puntland administration had intervened to the fighting groups and lastly started mediating efforts to end the clash.
One of the residents told Reporters that they once heard the sound of heavy gunfire between the two armed groups in south of the town adding that he had seen the died people with his eyes and more other injured civilians.
We had contacted with the high officials of Galmudug and Puntland administrations to know more about the situation of the town was, but was not possible for us to get them any information as they were reportedly busy for solving the conflict between the sides.
The clash comes as there had been talks between both neighbouring administrations of Puntland and Galmudug state in Galka’o town since their divergence in the last year 2009.
