Mogadishu, July 14, 2009, 7:50 PM-ET, (SOMINA-Somali gunmen have kidnapped two foreigners in the capital Mogadishu Tuesday, officials and witnesses said.

“We don’t exactly who the kidnappers were but they were armed with a pick up truck mounted machine gun, they took the hostages with them”, the manager of the hotel said.

“They were journalists according to what they told me on arrival and they registered that they were French citizens”, he added.

 Witnesses said they saw the militants forcing the two white guys in their car with a gunpoint.

“I saw the security guards of the hotel being disarmed before the men were snatched from their rooms in the hotel”, Mohamed Yusuf, a guest in the hotel said.

“It was horrible that the two men were in their shorts when taken away” he added.

The two have stayed in the hotel in the past five days.
